JUST IN: Hurricane Florence Has Made Landfall Near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina (Video)

Around 7:40 a.m. ET Friday, the Category 1 Hurricane Florence made landfall near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

The monster storm moved in for what was expected to be an extended stay along the Southeastern coast, promising to drench the properties of 10 million people with immense amounts of water.

“With this storm, it’s a (Category 1) but the storm surge and the flooding is going to be that of a category 4,” CNN Meteorologist Jennifer Gray said Thursday night.

While wind speeds dropped Thursday, forecasters reminded people that what makes Florence extremely dangerous are the potentially deadly storm surges, the expected mammoth coastal flooding and historic rainfall.
