Thursday, March 8, 2018 was a day PAC nursery and primary schools held the second edition of their cultural day celebration in Warri. Dignitaries such as Bishop Barrister Ernest Ekpekurede, Reverend Robert Erakpofoke and Reverend Lawrence Agbirekomi were present, including Engineer Jude Okafor.

In a welcome address by one of the pupils of the school, Allen Excel said that, “This year we have decided to tag it ‘Unity in Cultural Diversity.’ You will quite agree today that we are so divided in many areas ranging from ideas, dressing, food, behaviour, values. This is not supposed to be so. Today our country does not need better laws, but better culture and the need to be united in all areas despite our difference on culture. We intend to use this programme to re-echo our commitment to national unity.”

While speaking on the theme of the programme: ‘Unity in Cultural Diversity,’ the guest lecturer, Engineer Jude Okafor said that, “In the diversity of our culture, we can still be united if we want to.” He also said that our African culture is important to us because it is a unifying factor, because it has built in us a strong respect value as well as respect for human life and because it is used for entertainment.

During the party last Thursday, people were entertained by dance parade of all groups (Isoko, Igbo, Yoruba and Ijaw tribes), pupil recitation, beauty pageant, cultural dance of all parents present and dance competition by the pupils. While the Igbo group won the beauty pageant, the Yoruba group won the dance competition.
