Coren Registration Requirements 2018/19 | Council For The Regulation Of Engineering In Nigeria Registration Process

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, was established by decree 55 of 1970 and amended by Decree 27 of 1992, now the “Engineers (Registration, etc) Act, CAP E11 of 2004” Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Act establishes COREN as a statutory body of the Federal Government empowered to regulate the Practice of Engineering in all aspects and ramifications in Nigeria.

Coren Structure

The Council is the highest policy making body. Members of the Council must be registered Engineering Personnel. The Council consist of 26 members in accordance with the Act, as follows:

  • The President – elected by the Council.
  • Six (6) Representatives of the Nigerian Society of Engineers
  • Four (4) Representatives of the Universities with Engineering Faculties
  • One (1) Representative of the Polytechnics
  • One (1) Representative of the Technical Colleges
  • Six (6) Representatives from states of the Federation
  • Four (4) Representatives of the Minister
  • One (1) Representative of NATE
  • One (1) Representative of NISET
  • One (1) Representative of NAEC

Coren Current President

Engr. Kashim Abdul Ali was born on 10th June, 1958 in Ofugo – Ankpa, Kogi State. He is a Registered Engineer, Fellow and Past President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and Member of the National Institute.

He was a member of Nigeria Vision 20:2020 Steering and Implementation Committees, and Chair of the sub-Committee on Physical Infrastructure. He was also co-Chair of the Infrastructure Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and member Policy Support Group to the Economic Management Team (2008 – 2010).

His working career started in the old Benue State Ministry of Works in 1982, before he joined the Federal Capital Development Authority in 1992, rising to the position of Director/Chief Executive Officer of the FCT Water Board, Special Adviser (Utilities), Director (Technical Services) of the Abuja Infrastructure Investment Centre, and lately, Director, Transportation, FCTA. He holds the traditional titles of Olimene Ata Igala, and Galadiman Ankpa. He is married with four children, and loves reading, writing, travelling and social works.

Before starting the application process, you will need to obtain your transcript and have it sent directly from your school to COREN through any of the following means:

OR

Manual Delivery:

Send manual copies to (The Registrar, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, 22 Addis Ababa Crescent Wuse Zone 4, P.O.Box 8461, Wuse, Abuja).

You can also request your school to send the e-transcripts using the school’s official email address to: transcripts@coren.gov.ng

2. Download the Proposer and Work Experience Forms before you start filling the application form online as this is a requirement among the documents to be uploaded during the registration process. Please ensure and confirm that your two (2) proposers are up to date in the payment of their annual practicing fee.
