You may be a graduate or undergraduate but you are still interested to join  Nigeria Army defense department or may be you are a Nigerian  leaving outside the shores of this country but still interested in Nigeria Force Department i will show you today what is required to join the Nigeria Army.

What Is Nigerian Army All About?

The Nigerian Army is the largest component of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and responsible for land warfare operations. It is governed by the Nigerian Army Council.it was founded in the year 1960at current their Chief of Army staff is  Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai having its Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria capital and is headed by Commander-in-Chief: President Muhammadu Buhari  the current president of the country.

 

4 DEPARTMENTS OF NIGERIA ARMY

1.Department Of Army Administration:

Department of Army Administration (DOAA) deals with the administration, welfare, discipline, employment and development of all human resources in the NA. The branch is divided into 2 major directorates, namely: Directorate of Manpower Planning (DMP) and the Directorate of Personnel Services (DPS ‘A’). It also controls other minor directorates and units. The executive head of this branch is the Chief of Army Administration (COA ‘A’).

2.Department Of Army Logistics (DOAL)

Department of Army Logistics (DOAL) is responsible for all logistics matters in the Nigerian Army. This Department controls the entire Nigerian Army budget. It also supervises all quartering services of the Nigerian Army. The Branch is headed by the Chief of Army Logistics (COLOG).

 

3.Department of Army Policy and Plans (DAPP)

Department of Army Policy and Plans (DAPP) is the hub on which all the activities of the NA rest. It could be aptly described as the ‘horse’ that pulls the cart. It is at the centre of the wheel of the General Staff activities and it is both the ‘think tank’ and the co-coordinator of all AHQ Principal Staff Branches. At the head of the branch is the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP)

 

4.Department Of Army Transformation and Innovation Centre (ATIC)

The Army Transformation and Innovation Centre (ATIC) is to ensure that the Nigerian Army (NA) actualises its Vision 2015, which is to manage the NA Transformation Process in order to develop the operational effectiveness of the NA. The Centre is also to develop strategies that will ensure that the NA responds adequately to the ever dynamic operational and technological environment. Initially known as the Office of the Nigerian Army Transformation (ONAT), it transmutted to Army Transformation, Innovation and Concept Development Centre (ATICDC) before its new name of ATIC. It is headed by Chief of Transformation and Innovation (Army) COTI (A).

Now Lets Delve Into What It Takes To Join The Nigeria Army Force.

To join the Nigerian Army, you must meet all the following requirements and conditions:

  1. You must be of Nigerian origin by birth. What this means is that you must be born in Nigeria to Nigerian parents. If you’re from another country or you’re a Nigerian by naturalization (and not by birth), then you are not qualified to join the Nigerian Army.
  2. You must be between 18-22 years of age at the time of application. If you are not yet up to 18 years old, you will have to wait a bit longer. However, if you are already older than 22, then you are no longer eligible to join the Nigerian Army.
  3. You must be fit medically, physically, and psychologically. That is, you must not have any persistent health issues or suffer chronic conditions like asthma. Neither must you have any physical or mental disabilities.
  4. You must not be less than 1.65 meters tall (men) and 1.56 meters tall (women). Yes, your height alone can truncate your dreams of joining the Nigerian Army. So, check your height now. If you are shorter than the values stated, then your dream dies here.
  5. You must be free of any criminal conviction. That is, you must not have been convicted of any crime – major or minor – at any point in the past. If you have been charged with an offence before, then you cannot join the Nigerian Army.
  6. You must attend the zonal screening exercises at the designated zonal centre for your state. Note that the zonal screening centre may not be in your own state, but in one of the neighbouring states. Only one zonal screening centre will be available for applicants from all states within a designated zone. So, get ready to travel if the screening centre isn’t in your own state.
  7. You must duly complete all forms and submit them at the examination venue on the date fixed for the screening examination.
What are the required educational / academic qualifications?

To join the Nigerian Army as a non-tradesman or woman, all you need are at least 3 credits including English Language in not more than two sittings (in WASSCE/NECO/GCE).

What are the documents you need?

If you meet all the requirements stated so far, that’s not all. You will need the following documents during the recruitment process:

P.S: Note that you will be required during the screening exercise to produce the original documents and credentials as well as all scratch cards purchased.

How do you apply and register to join the Nigerian Army

Note that the application is done online. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Purchase a scratch card from the nearest branch of Unity Bank or Union Bank

2. Validate your scratch card serial number and PIN

3. Visit the Nigerian Army’s online recruitment (www.narecruitment.org portal)

4. Register by choosing your desired username and entering a password.

5. Login to the portal with your username and password

6. Fill the required information and submit your application. Don’t forget to print a copy of the application confirmation page.
