Another day, another rap artist steps forward to address Eminem’s diss on his new album Kamikaze. This time, step forward South African hip hop duo Die Antwoord. Kamikaze isn’t the first time Eminem and the duo have had beef – this dates back to his 2017 album Revival. On his Revival track Untouchable, Eminem raps: ‘I’d rather hear ’em say “Die N-word” than Die Antwoord’.
However, he changed the pronunciation of the group’s name for rhyming purposes and it didn’t sit well with them. Member Yolandi Visser said at the time: ‘How would you feel if I called Eeminem? Your name’s Eminem, but I call you Eeminem because it rhymes with something.
She and her co-member Ninja then went on to release a video showing how to pronounce Die Antwoord, just in case anyone else was wondering.
And Eminem was listening, because they feature on his Kamikae album in track Greatest. On the track,
I know there’s people that are pissed about the way I mispronounced a name Die Antwoord! Fuck, I still can’t say this shit, but how quickly they forget Who the fuck I was now Ninja try to duck my slugs To let ya girl get fucked by Muggs I’d like to give a shout to Cypress This can’t be real, you dissed me and I was just tryin’ to give you a shout Now get the fuck out my rhyme book! His response also sees him claim that Yolandi and Cypress Hill’s DJ Muggs, who has helped out on two of Die Antwoord’s records, have had sex. While there is nothing to substantiate this claim, Die Antwoord has now responded, with Ninja posting a video addressed directly to Eminem. ‘Sounds like you miss us,’ Yolandi jokes in the background. ‘Yolandi’s not my girl’, Ninja then says, adding, ‘just my best friend who loves me’. He then says: ‘You used to rap better on drugs’, before going into a freestyle raps.
